Our Mission

To raise up spirit formed followers of Jesus

As a community of believers we:

Our History

Founded in 1945 on Flint’s eastside, Faith Tabernacle is a nondenominational church that has been committed to serving the greater Flint community for over 50 years.
In 1981, to accommodate the church’s growing congregation, Faith Tabernacle moved into our current facility on the border of Burton and Flint.
In 1988, under the leadership of Pastor Berniece Matejcek, the church founded Faithway Christian School. The school has since grown to almost 100 students enrolled from kindergarten through 12th grade. The school also hosts a day care center, Faithway Child Care.
In 1997, the church added a Children’s and Youth Ministry Center to help facilitate dynamic programming for our younger brothers and sisters.

Our Faith

What We Believe

There is one living and true God, infinite in justice, power, glory, holiness, wisdom, and love; one in His essence but eternally substantial in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The books that form the canon of the Old and New Testaments as originally given are the divine Word of God. They constitute the only infallible, sufficient, and authoritative rule of faith and practice. The Bible is the revealed will of God.

Jesus Christ, the eternal Son, possesses all divinity, being one in equal three with the Father and Holy Spirit. In His incarnation, He united His divine nature to true human nature and so continues to be both God and man, forever. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, poured out His blood as vicarious atonement for sin in satisfaction of divine justice. On the third day of His death, He was raised from the dead in His body, now glorified. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, interceding in Glory for His redeemed. From thence, He shall commence the bodily rapture of the true church and return to Creation in power and glory.

Justification and regeneration are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. Subsequently, sanctification is wrought of regeneration and by faith through the Word and the Holy Spirit.

God created man in His own image, in a state of original righteousness, from which he subsequently fell by a voluntary revolt and consequently is morally depraved, guilty, and subject to divine wrath. Repentance is commanded of God and necessary for the forgiveness of sin.

Water baptism by immersion is commanded of all who repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ.

The elements of the Lord’s Supper are symbols of Christ’s body and blood. They remind us that the only means of absolving guilt, shame, and punishment of sin is found in the person of Jesus Christ.

Divine healing of the body is done through faith in the name of Jesus. This is part of atonement.

The Lord Jesus Christ will return bodily, visibly, and personally to conform believers to His own image. He will bestow eternal life to the saved and eternal punishment to the wicked.

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. ( Gen. 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

Matrimony is an ordinance instituted by God through which a man and a woman enter into a lifetime agreement by vows (oaths) made to each other in the presence of God.

Our Vision

We recognize the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit to make us into the people He created us to be, finding our life, liberty, and happiness in being transformed to be like Christ Jesus.

Five ways that we see God at work in us are expressed in the following things that we seek to make a part of our life together:

We practice these things as a worshiping community of believers being transformed every day into the image of Christ.

We are a community of believers who worship God and embrace people.
