How to Trust God More
Have you ever felt like you’ve done everything you can—prayed, worked hard, stayed consistent—and yet nothing seems to move? It’s frustrating, isn’t it? In moments like this, it’s easy to wonder if God is even paying attention. But often, it’s in these exact moments that God whispers something we need to hear: “I don’t need your help doing My job. Only believe, and you will see My glory.”
Trusting God isn’t about doing nothing; it’s about letting go of the need to control every detail and making room for Him to do what only He can. That’s where the supernatural increase happens—not through striving, but through surrender.
Stop Striving and Let God Work
Think about Moses standing at the Red Sea. Pharaoh’s army was closing in, and the people were panicking. They wanted to fight, run, or do something to save themselves. But Moses spoke the truth:“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14).
That stillness wasn’t about inactivity—it was about trust. It was about standing firm, not in their own strength, but in God’s. So many of us try to fix everything, manipulate outcomes, or make things happen faster. But trusting God often means stepping back, releasing control, and letting Him move in His time and His way.
Exodus 14:14 – “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still”.
Get to Know the One You’re Trusting
You can’t trust someone you don’t know. That’s why time in God’s Word is critical. His promises reveal who He is—faithful, good, and unchanging. Abraham is a perfect example. God promised him descendants as numerous as the stars when he and Sarah were too old to have children.
Abraham didn’t trust in his circumstances; he trusted in God’s character. The Bible says, “He did not waver through unbelief but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God” (Romans 4:20). Trust like that doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from anchoring yourself in what God says and allowing His promises to shape your perspective, not your fears.
When you fill your heart with scriptures like “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5), it becomes easier to trust Him. His Word is a steady foundation, even when life feels unsteady.
Obedience is often the doorway to experiencing God’s supernatural provision.
Obey, Even When It Doesn’t Make Sense
Trusting God often requires action, even when it feels risky. Peter learned this firsthand. After fishing all night and catching nothing, Jesus told him to try again. Peter could have argued or refused, but instead, he said, “Because You say so, I will let down the nets” (Luke 5:5). That one act of obedience led to an overflow of blessing—a catch so big it nearly sank his boat. Obedience is often the doorway to experiencing God’s supernatural provision. It may not always make sense, but trust isn’t about logic; it’s about faith.
Trust in Every Season
Then there’s Joseph, whose life was full of disappointments. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned—Joseph had every reason to stop trusting God. But through it all, he held onto the belief that God was in control. In the end, Joseph’s trust was rewarded. God elevated him to a position of influence, and he became the instrument to save his family and an entire nation. Joseph understood something critical: while we can’t always control what happens to us, we can trust the One who is in control.
Trust Leads to Glory
Here’s the truth: God doesn’t need your help to bring the breakthrough you’re praying for. He simply says, “Only believe.” Trusting Him means letting go of the striving, anchoring yourself in His promises, and stepping out in faith when He calls. When we stop trying to fix everything and allow God to take the lead, we create space for Him to move in ways we could never imagine. Trust opens the door for His glory to be revealed in your life. So stop striving. Start believing. And watch what happens when you let God be God.
Stop striving. Start believing. And watch what happens when you let God be God.
I pray that the season ahead is marked by God’s supernatural provision of grace in your life. When we experience this work of the Spirit in our hearts, faith is produced for us to respond to God’s promises effectively. Only then can we see the increase that only He can bring become a reality in every area of our lives!
Blessings,
Pastor Kyle Bailey
